As you might know, I’m graduating from university at the end of this semester. That means that real life is going to start. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited to be done school, but it’s also scary to have to be a real adult.
The #1 question that people ask me when they hear that I’m finishing up my last semester is, “What do you want to do once you’re done?”. And my answer every single time is, “I have no idea”. In my program, I’ve dabbled into many different areas of print, graphics, and business, but I’m not passionate about many of those industries.
Then, on the other hand, I have my own brand: Margaux Zanetti. I love blogging and making YouTube videos, but the dilemma that I face is the financial side. There are so many bloggers in the city, that it’s harder to get companies to pay when they can just go to someone else who will do it for free. I also like working with smaller local brands that I know can’t really afford to pay as much as big brands. Therefore, blogging full time would be a big gamble.
On one hand, I would have so much time to work on my blog and grow it. I would also be able to so freelance graphics or content creation for other companies, so that would play into my income. However, there’s also the issue of family. I feel like freelance work is a concept that adults don’t really get, especially my grandparents. I’ve been lucky enough that they’ve been helping me out through school. Not getting a ‘real’ job would seem like a let down for them since they’ve been helping me out through school…
Speaking of adulting, can we talk about how professional I look in this cardigan from Bench? Feeling ready to kill it in some interviews (if that’s what I decide to do!). Thankfully I still have 3 months to figure out my life!
