Let me start off by saying that I feel like a bad blogger. This year, so many things have happened that I haven’t been able to prioritize writing or making videos. My Instagram is still active but I want to create more content than that. I thought it would be time to share with you what’s been going on in my life…
Where have I been?
I feel like my content has been lacking since 2017 started. During that time, I was finishing my last semester of university, working freelance, and trying to work on my blog all at the same time. It was a lot of work and I put the blog as my last priority of the three. Then, right after graduation, I was in Europe for 3 weeks. Once again, I thought I would be able to create a bunch of content, but I really needed a break. After 4 years of university, I just wanted to enjoy my trip with my friends and family. Travelling in itself is tiring, but if you have to look good, take photos, write, and edit on top of that, it becomes exhausting.
Then, when I got back, I had to get my driver’s licence, which was extremely stressful but I got it! Woot woot! After that, there was my graduation and other family events that required me to go back and forth between Toronto and Richmond Hill. The most recent thing that I have been dealing with is finding a new apartment! I knew it would be stressful, but I didn’t expect it to be so hard to get approved. Thankfully, I found a beautiful place and will be moving at the end of August!
I’ve been blogging for a total of 3 years now and I feel like I recently fell in a rut. The blogging community in Toronto is pretty small and I got tired of seeing pictures of latte art and floors every 2 seconds. I got tired of my own content and wanted to refine what I was blogging about. In my own life, I’ve been transitioning to greener options and a lot of people have been interested in it lately. I love green beauty, but there’s so much more to talk about like household products and the slow fashion movement. Taking a step back made me realize that saying no to collaborations that don’t fit is okay. I want to work with brands that I believe in and would spend my own money on.
To get out of this creative rut, I’ve found Instagram accounts that have really inspired me to create new content. Here are a few of my faves…
Although I love meeting people through Instagram, I don’t click with everyone. When Sarah came to Toronto, we met up and had the best time chatting over brunch! She’s lovely and takes the most beautiful pictures. Any time someone asks me for recommendations in Montreal, I tell them to check out her feed for inspo!
Joanna seems to capture the most simple images in the most beautiful way. Her Insta Stories as equally as inspirational as her pictures; she’s just goals
Lee is probably the Instagrammer who’s Stories I look forward to watching the most. She’s a health/lifestyle blogger living in LA whose posts are really helpful. She isn’t afraid to talk about embarrassing health topics, and she shares a lot about her struggle with PCOS. All in all, Lee is someone that I would want to be friends with if I lived in LA
If you’re interested in becoming a minimalist, Jenny is the right girl for you! I found her YouTube channel 6 months ago and her videos have helped me realize how much junk I have to get rid of. She does a great job of giving tips on how to become a minimalist; she also shares delicious-looking vegan recipes.
And that’s it! Once I get settled in, I’ll be able to have a real work schedule, which will hopefully help me post more content for you. If there’s anything that you would like me to talk about on the blog or YouTube, let me know!
